First Few Weeks of 2007

Spanish SnowIt’s almost been a month since I’ve been back here at Concordia.  So far this semester has been awesome.  I always think that the beginning of a new semester is so exciting, since you don’t really know what to expect.  Oh, the new professors, new classrooms and new people to meet in your classes.

By the way, I’m Tony, and this is my second year here at Concordia.  Last semester I was in choir, but I felt that I had to take a semester off to focus on my art and my theater.  With the time left over from choir, I have started asking questions about the student art show.  The show is made up of students’ pieces of art made in classes from the past two semesters.  First they collect everyone’s works of art and then they bring in a judge who picks the works for the show.  The show will go up sometime next block in the Cyrus M. Running Gallery, here on the Concordia Campus.

I also have become more involved in the theater.  I now have a theater assistant job in the costume studio.  Along with that I auditioned for the Shakespeare play The Comedy of Errors.  I was cast as Antipholus of Ephesus, one of the main characters.  We’ve already started on rehearsals, and I’m extremely thrilled.  Although we’ve only worked on table stuff, like reading Shakespeare and making it understandable, it’s been a great learning experience.  There’s a lot of energy going into it.

Lastly, I want to talk about my work at the Rourke Art Gallery Museum.  Within the first three weeks of being back in Moorhead, we’ve opened two shows.  Mike Marth’s “Is it still life?” was our first show of 2007 and was opened the weekend of the 13th.  Then last weekend we opened another show at the Rourke Gallery that is called “Quotations” and by Phillip Thompson.  Now that both shows are up we are left with the smaller things to do, such as cleaning and mass mailings to members.

I’m excited to get to share with everyone my experiences here at Concordia and in Moorhead, MN.  I hope my first blog has caught you up with me and my life.  If you want to, check out my bio and you can see other things I’m into.
