A week of Anticipation
It seems like the week before breaks is always more busy than a normal week.
Spring break starts this Saturday and I am intently looking forward to it. During the ten days of break I will be traveling with twenty other people from Concordia to Louisiana for a Habitat for Humanity trip.
Before that can happen I need to study for and then take a few tests.
Although I have been busy with schoolwork this week I have found some time to do various activities. Last weekend I went to camp. It was the Senior High Retreat at Inspiration Point Bible Camp in Clitherall, Minnesota.
We had a great time playing volleyball, dodgeball, snow football and broomball. Campers and staff alike heard a great message about purity and holiness. Going back to camp for a weekend was a great break from school. I needed that before the last week before break.
I can’t wait to go back this summer when it is warm and we can get out on the lake.
On Tuesday I went to the Concordia Jazz Ensemble concert. The orchestra room was filled to capacity to hear Jazz II and Jazz I perform. Jazz II was first with lively jazz renditions that sparked the audiences’ interest.
Jazz I started right off with a smoking tune that blew my socks off. It was fast, loud and everything that I enjoy about Jazz music. One piece featured a student composer in the band.
He arranged a jazz chart featuring the Super Mario Bros. theme songs. It took me back to my Nintendo playing days with a funky, jazzy twist. Jazz I finished the night with an impressive chart by George Goodwin entitled Count Bubba’s Revenge. It featured multiple soloists and ended with a bang.
It was a great concert and I plan to purchase a recording. What a great evening of jazz music.
It is only a few days before I will be on a bus headed for the warm and sunny city of Lake Charles, Louisiana. I am super excited to build a house.
My next blog will probably be a review of the trip. So check back next time for highlights from the trip.
