The 1st Day: Before and After
Before the First Day:
Ok, well I guess not the first day ever…but pretty close. Today we started our practicum (1 month field experience). This is the first time that I will be in a classroom every single day, and will teaching. I have been placed in a 5th grade class, which makes me really excited, however a little nervous at the same time because I have an early childhood emphasis. I know my professors have prepared me; however going to meet people for the first time can always be a little nerve racking.
After the First Day:
The kids were so amazing! They were full of energy and were so excited about what we were doing. I also taught my first lesson and it was really fun to see all of the students got so involved and energetic about what we were doing. We even did an experiment today to shine some old pennies that we had. The students however, did not think the vinegar smelt very good…go figure.
We also had a musical today, which the students were involved in. They had been practicing for three months. They were so excited and they were so proud of their hard work. But I think I was even prouder, even though I have only known them for a couple days. I am sure the huge grin on my face did not give my excitement away at all.
