Hello, my name is Sean Volk and I have an addiction to soda. Yes I do mean drinks like Dr. Pepper and Pepsi. Growing up I’ve always been a soda drinker and I never thought twice about, note the picture from my Graduation party last year. It cost 35 dollars to get in because of all the entertainment and food so my friend Shannon and I decided to get our money’s worth in Dr. Pepper. Sadly, we each had like 13 cans by the end of the night. (more…)

There’s a lot I’m enjoying about my first summer in Moorhead. I’m enjoying the lilac to people ratio. I’m enjoying being able to TiVo Dawson’s Creek in the morning and watch it on my lunch break. I’m enjoying seeing a campus that isn’t coated in an inch of ice.
Wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.
I’m Hannah. And even though I’m new to the Cobblog, I’m going to be a senior here at Concordia next fall. I know I have some large shoes to fill (honestly - I’m not sure how well Josh’s height translates in print, but when we were in Louisiana our traveling evangelist friend dubbed him “Brother Tall Man.” I think he’s around 9′4″*) but by the power of Greyskull and the continued support of viewers like you, I’ll do my best. Who knew a movie about a Minnesota high school beauty pageant could be so irreverent and hilarious? Drop Dead Gorgeous is one of my all time favorite movies because it not-so-subtly lampoons Minnesota and the cultural rituals that we take for granted as native Midwesterners.
The talented cast exaggerate the common “Ya sure you betcha” accent that some of us have. To be honest, I have a slight Minnesotan/Norweigan twang on some of my words with long “O” sounds and I add “You know” to the end of sentences when it clearly serves no purpose grammatically. (more…)
