Pop Catastrophe!

Oops...Registration has been done for a while now. I have been a little busy and a little relaxed since Thursday last week. Erica came up with the idea, that on Friday all of us should bring a dessert. Everyone in the admissions office agreed to this idea. We usually go to dairy queen and order something for everyone, but this time we decided it would be more fun if we all brought something home-made.

Each one of us had to sign up for a particular dessert that way no one brought the same thing. I signed up to make gulab jamun’s (dough balls soaked in sugar syrup) YUMM! It’s an Indian dessert. A few other desserts that showed up were Danish pastries, blackberry rebel pie, fruit pizza and bread pudding. We had quite the turn out of food. We had more than enough food to feed the entire staff in the administrative building, laid across over two six foot tables.

We had some left over pop from an admissions retreat which Kia and I were asked to put in a cooler. We were IN- CHARGE! We first drained the cooler of all the melted ice (water) and then put new ice into the cooler. The ice was in a huge clump so Kia started hitting it with her hand. I decided that I would try to break it with a can of pop. I knew it would fizz and that some unlucky person would open it. “Oh well”, I said to myself, and continued to break the ice with the can. Just when Kia said, “great idea Preeti”, the pop can BURST open! There was pop everywhere, on the refrigerator, the floor, the door and the tables. I felt so absolutely ridiculous.

We had created such a mess that it took the two of us about 20mins to clean up. The worst part was that I couldn’t stop laughing. I couldn’t believe that I was capable of doing such a stupid thing!

Sometimes I feel like I could write a book about my everyday mishaps. I do silly things so often sometimes that I just laugh at myself.
