Continued…Miracles Around the World

Looking into the streets of Belize CityLast week I wanted to share about how I had as amazing opportunity to work with Praying Pelican Missions (www.prayingpelicanmissions.org) this summer and through that opportunity I met a little seven-year-old boy named Kevin who was slowly losing his eye sight?  Well, here is what happened…

After talking to the doctor, we discovered that there would be hope if certain steps were followed. We drove around for hours trying to find five different medications and as we were driving around the participant who asked me to take them ran into a pharmacy, while Kevin and I continued to circle Belize City because of the limited parking. As we were driving I asked Kevin, “Did you know we were going to see the doctor today?” Kevin replied by saying, “Yes.” I asked him how he knew, and if Diane (the participant) had told him. He said “no.” So then I asked him again, “How did you know we were going to see the doctor today?” Kevin responded with a big smile, “God told me that you would come for me.”

After obtaining all of the five different medicines, we took Kevin home to share with his mother the information we had received and the severity of his disease. As we were explaining to his mother what now needed to happen, when he was supposed to take his medicines and how much to take, Diane also wanted to show them how to put the medicated eye drops in his eyes. Kevin laid in my arms with his head back and Diane proceeded to put the drops in his eyes. She placed the drops first in the left eye and then in the right eye. As his little body lay there limp, a smile came upon his face. He laid there in my arms for about five minutes with his eyes closed. Then I started to get worried, so I asked him if it hurt. He said no. Then I asked him if it felt good. He said yes. Kevin’s eyes had been itching for 5 years, and this is the first time they felt good.

The weeks passed and Kevin returned to the doctor and we discovered that his eyes were 90% healed. And all he now needed was transition, non prescription glasses to wear in school because they will not allow him to wear sunglasses. But because his family did not have the means to financially provide that, they were unaware of what they were going to do. Well, as we visited, God provided the means financially and we were able to purchase for Kevin a pair of glasses so he would be able to go to school and protect his eyes.

Kevin is going to be alright and this is a true witness to how God works and is faithful.  I know that God has a plan for each one of us and being back at Concordia, it is awesome to hear all the amazing stories from each Cobber’s summer and it is so exciting to hear how we are all being used for His purpose.
