Back In The Swing

Wow! Well, it was a whirl-wind of a summer, and now its back into the swing of things at Concordia. I must admit that I neglected my dear blog for the whole summer and even these first two weeks that I’ve been back. But never fear, I’ll be here - for the rest of the year! I think its about time to let everyone in on my summer.

First of all, I started working at a restaurant as a waitress, hostess, and busser. About a month into it I couldn’t take the ridiculously long and tiring hours - so I quite. However, I landed an amazing job at Baskin Robbins as a cake decorator and assistant manager, which was a ton of fun. In addition to my amazing cake fun, I got to spend a lot of time with my boyfriend (he lives in Colorado), and was suprised half-way through the summer with a marraige proposal - and I did say yes! Then come mid-August it was time to hit the books again and head back up to Cobberville for my senior year.

This academic year has been rockin’ so far - and I literally mean rockin’. Temple Band - one of the worship bands on campus - came back early to start practicing for welcoming in Concordia’s biggest freshman class yet. After hours of prep-time we kicked off the year in awesome worship style. Along the same musical lines, last spring I obtained an internship at the University Lutheran Center at North Dakota State University as their Sunday night worship leader. I am so grateful for the opportunity to practice and continue learning about what I love to do most. So far, things are going well and I’m sure you’ll hear more about it later. Finally, Concordia Concert Choir rehearsals have been going great. I am so blessed and honored to be a part of that choir. Last weekend was our fall retreat which was at Fair Hills Resort here in MN. It was so beautiful, and just really fun and relaxing. The picture above was taken in a hammock swinging over the lake a the resort. We are currently gettting ready to sing with a choir from Russia and then the Homecoming concert at the end of that week. I will be sure to update you on all of those amazing happenings, as well as share a few hilarious stories from our retreat.

Academically, things are also going well. I love my classes which include Choral Conducting, Paul (a religion calss) and World Christianity, as well as my internship. I’m super excited about working in the Admissions Offfice this year as well, as I have a lot more responsibilities and ideas to implement than last year or the year before that.

Well, now that I’ve rambled on for so long, I’m basically trying to say that I have a feeling that this year is going to rock my socks off. And you’re going to get to hear all about it! Get ready to be wowed! At least I hope so :-)
