Fun with TIES!!!!

I don’t even know where to begin with my conversation about ties!  I don’t say this because I am unsure of why I like ties, but rather that it has been a long time since I have been given the opportunity to write creatively and with my own delightful, quirky voice.  Don’t get me wrong, the occasional Philosophy and Communication paper strengthen me as a formal writer and the occasional Spanish paper strengthens me as a bilingual writer but I never really get to write in my own voice.  Everything is so strict and carefully structured that I feel like I could scream.  I’m sad because I don’t get to use Paris Hilton quotations or movie synopsizes as my introduction!  (more…)

Conflicted Baseball Fan

Will the Rox rock the Sox? Or will the Sox sock the Rox?

This is the dilema that I am currently in. You see, I am both a Colorado Rockies fan - as they are my home team - and a Boston Red Sox fan. You can imagine how wide my eyes got and how suddenly my ‘baseball soul’ became conflicted as I watched the Red Sox celebrate their victory over the Indians in Game 7 to win themselves a spot in the 2007 World Series. Having thought the situation through very carefully, I have come to a conclusion as to who I should be cheering for in the World Series. The answer is nobody at any particular time. However, while watching the Red Sox bludgen the poor Rockies in Game 1 last night, I found myself screaming at the Rockies to get it together and play like the awesome team they are.

I don’t blame the Rockies for playing the way they did last night though. I mean, for cryin’ out loud, the Rockies are such a young team and just look little compared to the big bad Red Sox. However, I think that’s just what the Rockies needed - to play the game a little and see what they’re up against. Who knows, maybe it’ll be like the time where the Yankees brutally defeated the Red Sox, and then the Red Sox came back to win 4 games in a row. Either way, I have hopes for the Colorado Rockies in this conflicted ‘baseball soul’ of mine. GO ROCKIES!!!

and I still love you too, Red Sox!

I have another five and a half semesters left at Concordia College and it makes me wonder if those five and a half semesters are going to fly by or drag along.  (more…)

Home Sweet Home

Hello Cobbers and Cobber fanatics! unike all my other fellow bloggers I’m afraid that I cannot apologize for being away for awhile. You must understand my friends, that I was quite busy this week, as well as last week. I just finished my exams for the week and feeling like I did pretty well I am happy to go home not knowing how I did on all the papers and tests this week, at least for quite awhile. This is a big weekend for me. Being a freshmen, this is the longest time I have been away from home. There were trips here and there, but nothing as long as seven weeks! As you may know I am heading to the lovely Brainerd-Baxter area to spend time with family and friends. I’m aware that my home is known as a vacation town and to me that makes it even better. I miss going out to the usual places, and even those usual faces.baxter.jpg (more…)
