Just Can’t Get Enough

Andrea and ISo, I finally got around to laundry this week for the first time in almost a month.

Other things I’ve finally got around to doing?

Well, hello again friend! Nice to see you. Please don’t hate me. I love you. Come back, baby. I can change. I can change!

Concordia has been a different place since everyone came back. I felt a little over protective at first since I was here all summer, and then all these whippersnappers came back and acted like it was THEIR home. It’s mine! I never left! Feel my loyalty! (more…)

It was homecoming week here at Cobberville last week. I remember last year, I just went home and locked myself up in my room and read a book and maybe watched a few movies. How odd of me to cut myself from the rest of the world when it is time to celebrate and have fun. All set for the parade. wait a minute, where are the flags and the rest of us? (more…)

Our LifeSo you might be thinking that I am an amazing musician.  And you may be thinking that I can create beautiful sounds that only the birds can sing.  And you are also probably wondering why I am complementing myself…well all I want to say is that I can play the recorder now (however I do not think that many people would agree with the statements about me being able to create amazing and beautiful sounds).

I am currently taking Music Education and this past week we had a recorder test.  Now if you are scratching your head and wondering what a recorder is, it is that instrument that you might have tried to learn how to play when you were in fourth or fifth grade.  But I can proudly say that I was able to play about six songs this past Monday, at least I was pretty proud.

This week is starting to become very hectic; because mid-semester break is coming up soon there are classes that are finishing, classes that will be starting…which means projects, papers and recorder tests. (more…)

Cobber Celebrity Connections

college-and-beyond.jpg BREAKING NEWS!!!

According to current Cobber students, Kate Winslet has been spotted attending classes, working in the Admissions Office, and singing with the Concordia Concert Choir and Temple Band on our very own Concordia College campus!

Oh wait…what was that?…I’m sorry to inform you folks but we just now have received word that it is NOT celebrity Kate Winslet, but Concordia’s own senior Kelly Nervick. And in fact we have Kelly on the phone right now. Kelly, can you please inform our audience as to how you became confused with Kate Winslet.

”Oh sure no problem. The first mix up was in fact at our annual Harvest Ball this past Homecoming weekend. I went to say hello to a few friends, and after greeting them my friend Michael Larson said that I looked like a movie star, but he couldn’t figure out who. The next day, Michael informed me that it was Kate Winslet that I reminded him of, which was a big shocker to me.”

So you’ve never heard this statement before?

“No, actually. Anyway, today after my choral conducting exam, a couple of my friends from class said that they had just decided that I looked like Kate Winslet. Well, I simply thought that they had spoken with Michael, but when they looked at me with puzzeled looks I knew that they thought of it themselves.”

Well that had to have made you curious.

“Absolutely. So I did a little invesigation on Google Image and found a picture that looked similar to a photo of myself; and indeed, my fellow Cobbers were quite right in their assumptions. Except, I don’t have Kate’s lips. Either way, I’m pretty delighted about looking like a celebrity - especially Kate Winslet because she is fantastic (she was marvelous in ‘The Holiday’).”

Well Cobbers, there you have it! Kelly Nervick or Kate Winslet? You decide!
