How Concordia stole the holidays…in a good way!
After returning from Thanksgiving break it seemed like everyone on campus was suddenly hit with a ton of bricks as we were swept back into the academic world and the stressful weeks to come before another nice long, and much needed break. I began to see more frequently the homework wars break out. If you don’t know exactly what I mean here is an example:
Boy 1: “I have three papers due next week and a test tomorrow.”
Girl 1: “Well that’s nothing! I have two research papers due, one reflection, a power point speech and three tests.”
(apparently Boy 1 has been topped and ironically the Girl 1 wins the sympathy argument)
Lucky for my my ten page research paper is currently ten pages and with that and another paper out of the way by next week, I think I will be okay. I’m being optimistic and the weeks are already flying by.
So with most of my stress on a low level I’m excited to kick off the holiday season here at Concordia. The night we got back from break, in Park Region dorm we made some very tasty attempts at gingerbread houses and decorated the hall. Literally. Tonight is a night of Christmas at Concordia and even though the weather is frightful we plan on visiting the theater building tonight to get in the Christmas spirit and watch such classic holiday movies like How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Hearing carolers and attending the Christmas Concert tomorrow night are also on my list of things to do as a new cobber, before spending the rest of the weekend working hard for those final grades like many other students will also be doing.
Even the little things can make the difference like decorating the trees, the halls and also the new dining center. Everything here is helping to make us ready for the holidays and be thankful that we have such a great staff and student body here at Concordia that we realize it is a time for being thankful for what we have and giving back to those who have been good to us. So thanks Concordia for spreading the spirit and making the holidays here feel like home! Best wishes to all this season and hope you have a healthy and happy new year and also important: stay warm.
