Since last Thursday afternoon Concordia College crawled with high schoolers. Now these aren’t just any regular high schoolers, these are extremely musically talented high schoolers. Thursday afternoon kicked off the beginning of the annual Music Performance Scholarship competition. Music Scholarship has always been important to me because it is the reason that I knew I was meant to go to Concordia. I have always wanted to make the students’ stay at Concordia to be as inviting, encouraging, and fun as it was for me. So Maren Krohg and I had been working almost relentlessly to find hosts for all of these wonderful students, and the day had finally arrived where we could meet all of the faces that we only had names to thus far. Nick Clark: Warrior Poet
January 29th, 2008
My two favorite classes that I’ve taken at Concordia, hands down, were both poetry writing courses taught by Prof. William Snyder. When I was a sophomore, I was in the Intro to Poetry Writing course. For the first few weeks of the course, Prof. Snyder (who insists on being called Bill) had us all read professional work and look closely at what separates great poetry from not-so-great poetry. We all practiced with in-class writing exercises until we were comfortable writing full poems on our own. (more…)
Dress You Up

Now that I’m well into the swing of my last semester of school, I’m able to pretty easily pinpoint what exactly I’m going to miss about this grand institution of higher learning. I think I’ve been ready to be finished with papers, and tests, and class in general for a good year now, but what I’m not sure about is how I’m going to leave my big ol’ mess of extra-curriculars behind. One of those I’m going to miss is the theatre. (more…)
ISO on campus!
January 24th, 2008
ISO is the International student organization here at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. I was officially elected as the President of this organization in December last year. There are five of us on the executive board and we are in-charge of keeping in touch with the international students and making sure they are connected with each other and also with the rest of the campus. Since I have just started to get to know the responsibilities that go along with this position I am slightly overwhelmed. Now, on top of homework and socializing I have to organize events, conduct meetings and STUDY!!! (more…)
Rockin’ Internship
January 23rd, 2008
After what didn’t turn out to be the experience I was looking for at a previous internship, I have landed safely at what I call my “home church” - Salem Evangelical Free Church. Let me just say this: I Love Salem! The Salem community is absolutely wonderful, and I’ve never really seen such a unique church as Salem. Lee Wuflestad is the worship leader there and he is a great mentor and site supervisor. Although I didn’t really start officially until the beginning of January, I have already learned so much and know that I will end up feeling much more prepared for the “real world.” In addition, I am realizing that I am coming into my own philosophy of worship, ministry, and leadership. I have already learned a ton of things regarding the organization of songs, choosing songs, and songs themselves. I have learned more about my guitar, and in fact, I become more and more motivated every time that I am there to be a better guitarist. I know that I could say a ton more about all the things that I am excited about and all the things that I am learning, but that would turn into the longest blog ever! Therefore, I might turn this into a mini-series of blogs (but not right in a row). So, stay tuned for another exciting episode of “Rockin’ Internship.”
