Wedding and Snow
Wedding, Snow, Wedding, Snow, More Wedding, More Snow…
What am I talking about? My break? Oh man, you are so smart; you guessed right!
Well, that was cheesy but that is exactly how my break went, and it was wonderful. I got back to Colorful Colorado on December 15 and was ever so grateful to see my mountains again.
I spent that Sunday and Monday with my family and then headed up to Grand Junction, CO to see my wonderful fiancee Jaime. During the day while he was at work, I spent my time planning our wedding and meeting up with a couple other friends of mine in the area.
Let me tell you, planning a wedding is a lot more difficult than it seems but still plenty of fun. To be completely honest, I was rather nervous about all the goals that I felt needed to be accomplished for the wedding over break.
I thought for sure that I wouldn’t get done what needed to be done, and that I would come back to Concordia and start the semester being all stressed out becuase I didn’t meet my goals. Yet here I am, not stressed out and feeling rather proud and accomplished of all our work. We mananged to:
1. Order a wedding cake - A 6 in. top tier and then 150 cupcakes (cute, I know)
2. Narrow ourselves down to 2 photographers, one of which will be chosen this week
3. Choose the bridesmaid dresses
4. Find and visit with a potential florist
5. Finalize the guest list (at least I think so)
6. Register for gifts
7. Purchase the bridal silk for my dress that my mom is making
and 8. I stood still for 2 or 3 dress fittings.
And within all of the busyness of wedding planning, Jaime and I still had time to sit and talk, watch movies, go out to eat, hang out with friends, shop, drink coffee, relax, etc. How did we do it all? Well, this may sound silly, but I think a lot of it has to do with that fact that I have learned especially in the last 3 years how to be super organized, create goals, find ways to meet those goals on time, and still take care of myself and have fun.
It’s a balancing act, but as an ex-gymnast, I’m pretty good at that (ha ha). In the midst of all the driving back and forth between Grand Junction and Conifer I spent a lot of time with my family, especially on Christmas day when it snowed 15 inches.
Two days later it snowed another 5 inches. All in all, I had a wonderful break and was able to spend time with the people that I love the most. Yet now I am back at good old Concordia and am getting ready for my last semester. But that’s another blog for another day.
