SUPRISE!!!! with marshmallows

seankatie1.jpgLast Saturday, me and a bunch of our friends suprised the pants off of our good friend Katie Hedberg. Ok, well…we didn’t literally scare her pants off. That would have been embarassing for sure! It should be noted that Katie has never had a suprise party thrown for her before and we all knew that that is what she really wanted. So we planned and scheemed and facebook invited as mansmores2.jpgy people as we could think of to join us at the HuHot in Fargo for dinner. Myself and Sean Volk, the masterminds behind the whole thing, convinced Katie that we wanted to go to dinner with her and her boyfriend on Saturday night, which she quickly agreed to. Saturday eventually arrived and I had Katie pick me up at the mall where I was doing some tour shopping and getting very anxious and excited about Katie’s suprise. The car ride between the mall and HuHot was almost excruciating because I didn’t want to even hint as to what was about to come. We finally arrived at HuHot and raced inside to beat the cold. As soon as we stepped foot in the door, Katie immediately looked at the host and said “table for 5 please.” At that point my eyes were about as big as saucers and I quickly tried to stop the host from seating us and explain what I needed him to do. He didn’t really understand (which was sending me into a panic), and finally told me that we could just go ahead and sit down where are friends were already seated. I’m sure it seemed weird to Katie that the host did not seat us, and it didn’t help that we beat her to the table and then just stood there with everyone (it was kind of in a side room). But all of my anxieties disappeared when Katie arrived at the table and we all shouted “Suprise!” She was completely shocked and thrilled! The rest of the night went splendidly. We all ate our weight in Mongolian food and laughed a lot. And to top it all off, a few people ordered S’mores. I know you must be thinking I’m crazy because you can’t order s’mores at a restaurant. But at the HuHot, you can. And s’mores at a restaurant is double the fun of just going out to eat. All in all, it was a successful and extremely fun dinner party. But the best part of all was seeing one of the biggest smiles on Katie’s face that I have ever seen.
