Thank you for the time you’ve given me and for your impact on my life. You have listened to my ramblings, given me advice, and shared some of yourselves with me. Thank you for your friendship and I hope that wherever you go you can be as much a blessing to those around as you have been to me!

Snow?

Well, I can’t say that I’m surprised…it has happened before. Nonetheless rumors of snow falling again have come true just a few hours ago. Yes, only a few sprinkles of that powdery substance fell…but it was snow nonetheless. I agree with Preeti’s blog on how it is supposed to be spring now.Oh summer where are you?

Thinking about it though, this isn’t such a bad thing for now. With finals coming up in a few days some may need motivation to stay indoors and study. These strong chilly winds and snow seem to be just right! Still…

Next week will be bittersweet I think. I’m gunna miss the people who are leaving, and admittedly the classes i’ve taken this semester….a nerdy thing to say, yes - but sadly true.I’ve enjoyed my classes and have learnt a lot. I am not looking forward to having 3 exams on Wednesday though…

Gels!

Well after next week comes summer!(well the break at least) I’m more and more anxious to participate in HIV research in MA, and to get the MCAT stress overwith. Additionally I keep looking forward to going home. After almost 3 yrs I think it’s time.

As I finish writing this blog I’m looking out the Ivers window…yes its Friday afternoon and I’m still in Ivers…yes…but the snow’s falling much more heavily. I think I’ll go play in the snow…ehem I mean study for my finals.

All the best to you who are preparing for next week’s exams and to those of you who are leaving!

Signs

This week has been crazy! Already I’ve had 2 research presentations, final papers, exams and tonight I’ll be meeting with a music group practicing for our performance at the ISO Festival this Saturday! The ISO Festival is an annual event to showcase diversity presented by the International Student Organization of Concordia College and if you are around you should come!! It’ll start @ 7 p.m. though there will be food from ethnic restaurants around the F/M area from 5 p.m. (everything is free!).

Despite the hectic schedules I really am enjoying this semester. I am also finding that research appeals to me more still now and even though some gels take close to forever to run (seriously :D) the end result is worth the wait. The research that I have been participating in this semester include myoglobin biochemistry, molecular parasitology of Heligmosomoides Polygyrus and the HP-FAR-1 protein and molecular biology/plant physiology of leafy spurge. (more…)

These are some pretty crazy times for a lot of Concordia students. Finals are just around the corner and some who live in the dorms have to find places to stay over summer if they are not going home soon. That was my struggle (and that of many int’l students) last summer since I don’t have family close by in MN. Now i’m living off campus so at least the stress of moving at the end of the semester is not applicable.

Like many international students here I have not been able to go home for quite a while now…since 1 Jan 2006…so that would be close to 2.5 years. This summer I’ll get to go home though! I can’t wait:) I’m going to make it in time for my cousin’s wedding. I don’t remember having met the groom before, so i’m excited to meet him! Also I miss not being able to see my family and friends….home cooked food…ahh yes:)HOME!!!

Before that though, I’ll be here preparing to take the MCAT at the end of May, then go to MA to do HIV/AIDS research at Partners AIDS Research Center (PARC)…this is the field that I would like to get into eventually, so I’m really thankful to be able to participate in this program!

In light of all the excitement to come though, i’m still quite tired from all the work that is required due in the near future. I’m not discouraged…I came to college for a challenge….but i’m tired…maybe I should sleep some more.
