I love it when I start to mentally wrap up the school year. This has been the sixteenth year I have been in school including kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school and finally college. As you read this you have to keep in mind that tomorrow is the last day of school and I haven’t yet had a single final except for a few final projects that I turned in yesterday. The end of the school year is so close yet so far away because I am taking summer school this year. Yes! I know it’s depressing but hey, the grass is green and I see sunlight and I don’t have to do homework for the next entire week!!

This year has been extremely eventful. I made some really good friends, got involved in a lot of interesting and fun organizations and completely lost track of my goal in life. I, at this point have no idea what I want to do with my life. I am still pursuing a biology and chemistry major but what I want to do with the majors is to be decided this summer. As I was saying, I was part of the Campus service commission, which is an awesome org to be involved with, I am still the president of the international student organization and managed to host a successful festival for the international student, worked two jobs and my most exciting experience of my sophomore year was being an orientation leader!

I am looking forward to this summer. I am still unsure of my plans after summer school, I am considering getting a job (actually I need a job desperately, if you have suggestions you should let me know), I may go to India for a month or go to Botswana. We’ll see what happens. Concordia has been wonderful to me these past two years and I am excited to be a junior here next year!

Well I better get back to studying! Keep reading this summer…

Is it spring yet?

Our beautiful campusSandals or shoes, jeans or Capri’s, this is the time of year when the weather is so random, you don’t know what would be suitable to wear. I have been so confused  over the last couple of days regarding the type of clothing I should wear.

The weather has been wonderful every now again and then it gets ugly all of a sudden. Last week all the snow had melted and gone away and the grass was starting to turn green, and BOOM! We had about 4 inches of snow of on Friday. Then it got really warm on Saturday and all the snow was melting and it was wet and icky everywhere. Just plain old disgusting!

We had snow again this week and then it has been just absolutely gorgeous the last couple of days. I have been unable to decide whether or not I should put my winter jacket in storage and pull out my summer shoes. I am just going through a phase where I don’t quite want to give up my jacket but at the same time I have been walking around with shades onJ. People have been looking at me as though I am crazy, which I probably am at to a certain level, but hey, I can’t help it! And guess what? It’s supposed to snow again tonight. (more…)

ISO Festival a Success

The girls! After weeks and weeks of planning it was finally here. I have been looking forward to and at the same time nervous about April 19 since January! We had decided that on this day we (the international students) would host the annual International Student Organization festival.

We planned on having food from various local ethnic restaurants, an arts and crafts display from different countries and a cultural show of all the countries represented on campus.

I have been working with a group of five people on organizing the event and making sure that everything for the event was taken care of and ready to go. I had to make reservations for the location of the festival, arrange for food, talk to the sound and light crew so they could set up the stage and most important of all advertise the event. On Friday night I found out that I had to go pick up warmers for the food the next morning and that was the last thing I would have to take care for the event.

So on Saturday morning I drive out to the rental shop, pick up the warmers and as I leave out of the parking lot- BAMM! I ran into someone’s car parked right behind mine. Way to start the day huh? (more…)

Medical school updates

Rebecca and I wondering what we should do??I decided I need to know more about medical school before I decide to pursue a career in medicine. I am sophomore and I still don’t know enough about how the MCAT’s work. So last night I started doing some research about schools, rating, programs and just some basic information. I found the Association of American Medical colleges (AAMC) and found a list of about 129 schools across the country.

As I started to look through them, I realized how much I would miss Concordia College for several reasons.

The most important reason is that I will be far away from my parents and won’t have a free place to live and no free FOOD! I also wondered if I would ever miss the Moorhead winters but realized that I would NEVER ever go through that phase of missing winters here. I would however miss the people; my church and going back home every night to see my annoying 12 year sister watching ‘HANNAH MONTANA’! (more…)

***You are all invited***

Making invitations can be a lot harder than you think. The entire last week I have been trying to work together with my advertisement committee for the upcoming ISO festival to design an invitation that we can send to faculty, staff, and students on campus. I realized that a person has to be very creative to come up with some cool design for the cover of our invitations.
